PassKit Showcases Event Gamification at the PwC & Google Digital Immersion Session

On Tuesday the 17th of May 2016, PassKit attended the PwC and Google hosted event called Hong Kong Digital leadership Exchange – A Google and PwC Digital Immersion. The agenda was quite busy: starting with the welcome speeches from Colin Light (Digital Leader, PwC) and Dominic Allon (Managing Director, Google), then going through several activities and interactive workshops.

PassKit powered the event tickets and created an event ‘gamification’ experience

So what did PassKit do? In a nutshell, created the event tickets which upon entrance were scanned and turned into a stamp card. As attendees visited different booths they received digital stamps from PassKit through our scanner app.

Below here you can see an example of how the ticket looked like after being stamped, as well as how it changed after collecting 8 stamps.

In real-time, attendees were able to see how many stamps they (as well as the other attendees) have collected on the big screen.

In order to attend the event, all guests had to download a digital ticket into their phones. Each guest went through the scanning and the different stages of the experience mentioned above. At the end of the event, all participants took part in a prize draw consisting in a bottle of champagne.
Lockscreen notificationTo complete the experience, GPS locations and beacons were plugged around the room and the building to trigger lock screen notifications when required. This way the guests could be informed and updated with the most relevant content at the right time (ex. welcome to Passkit booth etc). Here on the right side you can take a look at one example of lock screen  notification. In this specific case, the GPS triggered a message to people nearby the building, inviting them to get to the event on the 20th floor.
At the event there were a lot of big names, including AIA, AXA, Bain Capital, Bank Of China, Swiss Re, Whatsons and many others. One of the outcomes of the event was to increase awareness of these companies around their “digital fitness” and the subsequent impact on their business.
Another interesting outcome that came from Mr. Allon’s introduction speech are some of the statistics he provided:

  1. By 2020 there will be 8 Billion of internet users
  2. 50% of Google searches were made on mobile in 2015, and the trend is growing.
  3. New patterns and behaviours are emerging, using data for decision making is a key factor.
  4. Customers check their phones 150 times a day.

All of this emphasised and reinforced the importance mobile is having in our daily lives, as well as highlighting a whole new set of opportunities that businesses now have to tap into new sources of revenue. Overall, the Google and PwC digital immersion was a productive experience, a lot of positive energy and ideas were exchanged.
